personality
Nagisa is generally an easy person to understand, particularly because he makes it extremely easy for everyone around him, being as straightforward and earnest as he is. He's the least likely to sugarcoat things, and always speaks his mind, whether he's prompted to or not. If he thinks something is great, he'll say so (he thinks most things are great), and if he thinks it sucks, well. He'll tell you. He can be a bit of a pest sometimes, and very persistent, but he'll be the first to cheer someone up if he can.
He cares very deeply for his friends and is a driving force behind a lot of their shenanigans, who have been there ever since his weird childhood, sticking up for him. Nagisa is very easy to make friends with and gets along with basically everybody, if you can handle his energy level. He thrives on fun and adventure to what could almost be considered an extreme. This also makes him extremely agreeable, as he can find the fun in pretty much anything.
Despite his attentiveness to others, though, Nagisa can also be a bit of an airhead. He's been shown to be easily distracted and unconcerned about behaving "properly" or safely, running out into the street and blindly in the dark without a care. There's almost a childlike quality to him, which really shows through when he overindulges in things like eating garbage and getting super "into" his activities. He is a confident person, but can sometimes doubt his strength without the affirmation of others. He is in tune with how he feels and will never try to hide it unless he is worried about dragging others down.
Nagisa always sees the value in others around them and understands their thoughts and feelings a lot more than he may let on initially. He will try to preemptively stop people from getting down in the dumps, and will always go out on a limb for a friend. The thought of letting others down is really upsetting to him, and he puts his heart and soul into what he does to ensure that doesn't happen. That being said, it's close to impossible to make him do something he feels no passion about.
