I have been coming up with the logic behind it myself in the past few days, and while I still think there is no such logic behind romance and that it is silly, I do think the logic here is that this was the correct step for our friendship. You see, Nagisa-kun, while we already have this established bond, and even have held hands before! Most illogical couples start off without knowing each other very well so they just find one another attractive and don't really see the true, wonderful qualities of the other person. Thus, I think that this is as logical as a relationship could get, as strange as it is to hear myself say that.

his method of getting comfortable is to flop down and roll around, scattering everything that was once neatly arranged and then rearranging it pillow by pillow until the lumpiness and chaos is evenly distributed. he likes to be surrounded by soft, warm, fluffy things, and the striking lack of stuffed animals has only ever been placating when staying at Rei's house by making a nest out of his pillows and also by eventually clinging onto his sleep. all those times were mostly accidental, though. this time might be a little different. ]

[ he doesn't even remember where he left his phone (on the dresser, dummy), a rarity. he's always glued to his phone, checking the network for haps, txtin, posting selfies, hella tweets, etc. but not tonight. not since he texted Rin (and then Rei, sort of) earlier today.
his method of getting comfortable is to flop down and roll around, scattering everything that was once neatly arranged and then rearranging it pillow by pillow until the lumpiness and chaos is evenly distributed. he likes to be surrounded by soft, warm, fluffy things, and the striking lack of stuffed animals has only ever been placating when staying at Rei's house by making a nest out of his pillows and also by eventually clinging onto his sleep. all those times were mostly accidental, though. this time might be a little different. ]

[ It was the same line almost every single time Nagisa slept over. He should really invest in some stuffed animals or something, but then he has a feeling he'd get kicked out of the bed or drown under all of the plushes...which might have happened one of the first times he slept over at Nagisa's house.
But fine, he would turn off the lamp and lay down with him. Nagisa always won this battle between a perfectly neat bed and a messy bed and Rei's not really sure why he still scolds him about it. So, he does just that and lays down facing Nagisa since he did say they were going to cuddle--right? Not like he didn't do that before, but usually he would turn his back before going to sleep...sometimes. ]
Should I get comfortable or cuddle you first?
[ They've cuddle before, but not exactly like this, so Rei doesn't really know what to do, honestly. ]

[ "the technical stuff," ie throwing the blankets over them and then wiggling closer to cling onto him. it's a full-body cling, of course: he drapes one arm around and catches one of Rei's legs with both of his, as he would any other unsuspecting stuffed animal, pillow, or unwitting human. in this case the height difference is a good thing (nay, a perfect thing), since he can just rest his head under Rei's chin instead of them both awkwardly mouthbreathing on each other's faces all night.
sorry if he squeezes unnecessarily tight for a second, but he is quickly overcome with a case of the warm fuzzies and can't help himself. ]

[ Ok, he was about to get his answer. Nagisa clung to him and he was not expecting this at all, even though he should have. It's just...Nagisa being so close and he was certain they were never this close before--Was that his leg in between his legs and grabbing onto his--okay, yes--but still, so close??? Rei awkwardly blushed and adjusted his glasses...that he wasn't wearing...HAHA!!! OKAY...IT'S OKAY, RYUUGAZAKI....Just...cover it up like you were doing something else!!!! So...he rests an arm around Nagisa, who is now squeezing him entirely too tight, but he expected nothing less, honestly, so he can't help but smile a little. ]

[ slowly easing up on his deathgrip a little... just a little tho. he is about as snuggly as it's possible for a human to be without being completely obnoxious or having some kind of ulterior motive, and this means he's not being very good about just laying still and making an attempt at falling asleep. he just has to get all the annoying cuddly wuddly wiggling and nuzzling and whatever out of his system, then he'll probably knock out in mid-sentence.

I'm sooooo comfy, this is gonna wreck me! I'll never be able to sleep like a normal person ever again...

He does have to admit that so far he does enjoy cuddling with him before sleeping, so maybe this would be a regular thing now...not like it wasn't before, honestly. ]

[ moving slightly like he might be brave enough to look up... he still feels like he's been set on fire though, embarrassing gay fire, so maybe not. he is only bold enough to turn his head just a tad so he can peek up at him from the corner of his eye—not that he can see very much, basically just his chin and the side of his face, but that's fine. they do not need to be making direct eye contact right this second. direct eye contact with Rei always makes him weak in the knees, which he usually tries to pretend he doesn't notice by hopping around until it stops. god only knows what it would do in this setting. ]
